Vintage Hobnail Entry Light & Sneak Peak

I have something so special to share with you all today!

A little over a year ago we went to a neighborhood tag sale in our city and, towards the end of the day, I stumbled upon a free pile with this gorgeous, hobnail, milk glass and brass pendant light. I immediately grabbed it and have been obsessed with it ever since.

Autumn Hutch with a Painted Gourd

So, some changes are taking place in my entry area (including some new furniture), which caused my black hutch to be displaced. It spent the better part of last week in my office (or what my lovingly Mom refers to as the dumping ground - and I totally need some sort of plan for that room because she is right and it needs to stop).

After dragging the hutch around my home, I finally settled on this wall in my living room. I've loved having a little end table here, but the wall was calling for something additional.

Things I'm Loving This Week...

TGIF!

Every have one of those weeks where you have gotten tons accomplished, yet are still so far behind? That is so me this week. Hoping for a day, without interruption to really get things moving along here. I have painting, decorating, sorting and organizing to do...and lots of it!

Anyhoo, here are my fav things this week.  I love that fox. I mean, really, really love him!

 Hey everyone!

Here is my little bit modern, little bit vintage, not over the top autumn mantel. What do you think?

[Project Notebook] Mantels

I've been working like crazy the last few days trying to finish up some projects and getting the house ready for autumn.  My most challenging spot to decorate is always my mantel. Being over 70" and off-center is difficult to work with...not enough d├ęcor and it looks sparse, too much and it is cluttered. I feel like I. Cannot. Win.

But, we have made some changes that I will share more of  later this week and next week. Most notably, we filled the hearth with vintage and antique books (something I have been wanting to do forever.

Here are some mantels that I found inspiring while I was working on mine yesterday. Which is your fav?

Dip Dyed End Table

I am just loving this latest addition to our living room!

If you stopped by last week, I was talking about my love for dip dyed furniture and even showed you all a little teaser of this table. (You can read that full post and see some amazing inspiration here.)

Easy Streusel Topped Pumpkin Muffins

If you love autumn pumpkin snacks and easy recipes as much as I do, then this post is for you!

My boys have been (shockingly) cooperative thus far for homeschooling so I thought I would make them a little treat the other morning while they were both hard at work.

The best part is that even my youngest (with his laundry list of food allergies) could have this one no problem.

[Project Notebook] Dip Dyed Furniture

Lately, I have had a huge crush on dip dyed furniture. It gives such a fun and modern vibe to an old piece. I actually have been searching for a while for something to do this technique on and finally found a table over the weekend that was the perfect candidate (I'll share the full reveal next week!) In the meantime, check out some dip dyed furniture that I find inspiring.

Vintage Sideboard & Milk Paint Review

Hi all.

This weekend I fell in love. In love with a piece of furniture and the paint I tested out on it.

But, first, have I mentioned that I fell into in a serious furniture buying slump this past month? Seriously. Could. Not. Find. One. Thing. Not that I don't have enough to keep me busy with custom orders and  pieces I already have stashed away, but still, I like to keep a steady stream coming in. Just when I had given up hope, I found this beauty.

Enjoy your day!

Autumn Book Page Garland

Well, we did it. We survived the first day back doing school, the heat and humidity, and our trip to Mystic, Connecticut. I've seriously questioned this school year and have seriously stressed about it so I'm cautiously optimistic that it will go well. Let me just say it is a challenge to educate children that have special needs and are gifted.

On to lighter topics...doesn't it seem like forever since I've shared a craft with you all? I really feel like it has. The first couple of days this week I just let my boys do what they wanted (soaking up the last days of summer break) and, as typical, they spent their time using their DS's and watching the Harry Potter movies. I however, got a huge jump on painting the lower kitchen cabinets (one word: love) and whipping up this cute little autumn craft.

[Project Notebook] Fall Outfits

Hi all!

Today is our first day back at homeschooling for the year. Please send us good vibes, thoughts, prayers, whatever you've got, for a successful grades 4 and 6! You all know my boys are tough and definitely a challenge!

Anyway, I always like to take my boys on a little first day of school outing and since it is creeping towards mid-September I have fall outfit combos on the brain. Here are some of my favs. And, yes, I do realize that three out of five of the outfits have a striped shirt of some kind. Which, is odd, because in real life I only own one. I guess I, subconsciously, really loved striped shirts. I don't know...

However, since it we be like 100 degrees today (yuck) I will be wearing this little dress instead...which seems far too summery to be doing school in. I love how the model paired the dress with metallic sandals. I think I will do the same as I own both silver and gold!

Pinterest Love...

Do you love fall? It is, by far, my favorite season and I am definitely gravitating towards cool weather outfits and pumpkin recipes lately. Of course, it is supposed to be 90 degrees and humid here in Massachusetts tomorrow, but we'll just ignore that fact. OK?

Anyway, here are my fav pins from last week and you can definitely tell I'm thinking about fall! If you want to see everything I'm pinning you can follow me here.

Two-Toned Wall & My $5 Headboard

We've been having this little situation with our headboard in our master bedroom this summer.

It started in July when we got a new mattress. I had decided I wanted a Tempur-Pedic and thought we could swing one of the more basic models, but then we got to the store and the high end model was on clearance for less money and one thing led to another and I ended up with a massive mattress in our bedroom. Seriously. It dwarfed our sleigh bed style headboard and footboard. Then, because Tempur-Pedics are insanely heavy,  my husband began to question why we hadn't gotten the reinforced bed frame. So I bought that. And, of course it wasn't compatible with our headboard. So our headboard/footboard combo had to go, which 1. I was totally fine about since I was over it. 2. I was able to sell on craigslist for more than the cost of the new bedframe and 3. Without the odd curve of the sleigh bed our room actually looked bigger. Win. Win. Win.

Bold, Red, Vintage Coffee Table

Happy Sunday!

This is our last weekend before we start back at school so I am hoping for a fun family day!

I spent a good part of this past week working on this coffee table for a good friend of mine. Remember that red gossip bench I did a while back (here)?  Well, this is a companion piece for it and will be part of an awesome family room makeover that is currently in process.

Things I'm Loving This Week...

I seriously cannot believe that it is Friday already! The week flew by and our last few days of summer break are sadly coming to a close. That always makes me sad!

Anyway, my husband is off today so I am hoping to head out to find some tag sales. I haven't found a good piece of furniture in weeks, which is so odd, so maybe today is my lucky day!

Here are some things I have found (online) that I absolutely love. Enjoy!

Pretty Upholstered Bench

Hey everyone!

We've had a super busy week of doctor appointments and car appointments which will continue on today with the dentist for both of my boys. This is one of the big reasons I delayed the start of school for us by another week. The interruptions this week would not have made a good and consistent start to fourth and sixth grade for my guys. (Plus, it gives me another week to plan, which I so desperately need. Bonus!)

[Project Notebook] Two-Toned Walls

Just bear with me on this one. Yes, I completely know that I already posted a picture of a two toned wall on Facebook. And then I posted the same pic in my blog post from yesterday here.

I think I might be ever so slightly obsessed with the two-toned wall look. Especially since I found the most perfect wall for it! I have been dying to do some sort of graphic design on the wall behind our bed in the master bedroom for a long while now.

And, something glaringly needs to be done now more than ever since we sold our headboard this past weekend and the two toned wall will be a fantastic start! Although, my finished look will not be as bold, since I will be accenting my wall with a creamy white paint. Cannot wait to get started!

Upholstered Gossip Bench

The absolutely horrible Labor day weekend weather we've had has been a blessing in disguise. Sure, I would have preferred laying on the beach one last time this summer, but, if I'm going to be forced to forgo those plans at least I got a ton accomplished here.

One project I finished a while ago, but never had the time (until yesterday) to photograph was this gossip bench.

Autumn Inspired Decorating

Slowly, over the last week I have been changing up the accessories in my entry, living and dining rooms.
