Vintage Turkish Runner DIY

Hi everyone!

I did a project this weekend that I have been wanting to do for a long time--like probably years, and that is to install a series of Turkish runners on my stairs.

My stairway in tight and narrow and has no pizazz at all and this project has changed all that and makes me so, so happy.  I've been pinning ideas like this for years and I am so thrilled with the results. (You can check out my inspiration board here.)

I started by purchasing three different rugs from Turkey on Etsy all within the same color family.  I found that taking a screenshot and using the app Layout to be the best way to see how they would all flow together.

I know that it is unconventional to use a variety of rugs on a single stairway, but I love that collected over time look.

I ended up starting the project midway down the stairs with my shortest runner, as it was my favorite and I wanted to make sure it took center stage.

I attached the runners with 1" brad nails and my electric nail gun. At the top and bottom of the stairs or at any transition between rugs (like where I had to cut them) I used two-sided carpet tape to further secure them and prevent fraying.

Here are a couple before pics of this same space...

...and how it looks today!

I'm done with treatment and starting to feel better so lots more projects on the horizon!
