Buying & Decorating with Thrift Store Art

Morning everyone! I just wanted to hop on real quick to share some of my recent thrift store/antique store finds with you all.

I've had a couple of crazy weeks. Last Wednesday was my birthday and yesterday, my 15th wedding anniversary. Our new couch was delivered this week, which, of course, caused a major rearrangement/redecorating of furniture and accessories in the living and dining rooms.  I'm also working on a huge custom dining set for a client. And, I got my hair majorly cut.

Did I mention that my husband really doesn't like change? There was definitely more than one time, this past week, where I sent him an email at work to try to prepare him for what was going on here before he got home!

Anyway, I have so much that I want to share, and I promise that updated living, entry and dining room tours our on the horizon.

For now, though, here is a little gallery wall that's in process in our living room...

I obviously need more, but when you are committed to buying thrift or antique it takes time.

First up this cute owl print from Savers.  I'm obsessed with owls so it was an easy decision to purchase it, plus I love how the color of the matting and the red in the background tie into our accent colors.

Next up, this really, really old Roman/Greek inspired piece.  My mom found this for me a couple of months ago at an antique/consignment type shop. I love how neutral it is and how it plays off all the white we have in the space.

Lastly, this framed needlepoint adds that perfect bit of vintage to the room. I found it at an antique/junk shop and it is, by far, my favorite of the three. The colors are perfect in our living room. And, yes, that does in fact say, "Nana 1974" in the lower corner. My husband likes to make fun of me for that one, but I just love it!

One final look. And, I know that it seems like all these pieces of art are totally random and not unified, but I just don't see it like that. First, the colors blend beautifully. Second, they are all framed in flat, square frames. And lastly, each frame has a touch of gold.

Believe me, I tried adding in a rectangular, raised frame and it was disaster. Complete disaster. ;)

And now I'm off to see a dear friend, that I don't get to see anywhere near enough. So excited for our mini reunion. Plus, she is the lucky owner of those cottage end tables I shared here. Thanks for supporting me G!
