Autumn Hutch with a Painted Gourd

So, some changes are taking place in my entry area (including some new furniture), which caused my black hutch to be displaced. It spent the better part of last week in my office (or what my lovingly Mom refers to as the dumping ground - and I totally need some sort of plan for that room because she is right and it needs to stop).

After dragging the hutch around my home, I finally settled on this wall in my living room. I've loved having a little end table here, but the wall was calling for something additional.

Since it is such a classic country piece in a not-so-country room, I wanted to keep the accessories simple, seasonal and with a vintage twist.

I moved my canning jar collection in from the kitchen and added in a little brass vase (love this vintage, modern touch).

My husband found this vintage, metal crate in a free pile at a tag sale and brought it home for me. I, of course, loved it and new I had to incorporate it when styling this hutch to give it another vintage element.

My favorites are white, but I decided to go with some mini orange pumpkins for this space to tie into the corn and add in a pop of color.  I also relocated my France map to the master bedroom and added in a mirror and piece of art from my stash.

Here's the view from the entryway...

Lastly, the painted gourd! I had bought this little dried gourd a while ago and loved how it was made into an ornament by drilling a little hole and adding in a piece of wire, but I wanted to add a little bit of sparkle to it this year, so I painted it!

I know its subtle, but can you see how it has just a little bit of shimmer? I achieved the look with just a couple of thin coats of gold craft paint.

I completely see more painted gourds in my future!
