Vintage Sewing Pattern Wreath

Hi all! I completely feel like I dropped off the face of the earth for a few days! I had intended on taking a little break of sorts because my husband was on vacation, but then I caught a horrible cold and spent a couple of days miserable and sneezing. Hate that! Especially when it's like 100 degrees outside!

Anyway, since I was confined to the couch and watching Dragnet on Hulu (love that show) I decided to make a wreath.

I've had these vintage sewing patterns for quite a while...like a few years while...just waiting for the perfect project. And, while this was easy, be warned that it was pretty time consuming.

I started by cutting pieces of the patterns and accordion folded them. Typically, when I make wreaths I make sure that every piece is the same size. Not so with this one. I just randomly cut pieces, so some were long and thing, short and wide, etc... and I really like the depth and interest this gave to the wreath.

Once each piece was folded properly, I again folded them in half and hot glued the fold to my wreath form (as typical, I made one out of sturdy cardboard.)  I continued until the wreath was full and even looking.

It took way more sewing patterns than I could have ever imagined! But, I am seriously loving the results!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Enjoy your Sunday!

  2. Angela, this wreath turned out so pretty! It reminds me of the coffee filter wreaths, but so much more interesting! I'm going to need to pay more attention to how you make wreaths! I get bogged down thinking I need to go buy a form, but yours seem to be just beautiful using a cardboard ring! Have a great weekend! Glad you are feeling a little better. Have a great weekend!

  7. I love this, it is so cool!! Too bad I have no vintage sewing patterns. For that matter, too bad I can't sew a button on my clothes! How sad is that.
