Modern Acorn Garland

Forgive my complete lateness in posting today, everyone!

 

I have just a ridiculous amount on my plate right now with a kitchen reno that needs to be completed quickly and finalizing plans to sell my home. (Yup, that's right. Number Fifty-Three will be on the move soon and I am so excited to start this next chapter in my life!)

 

Anyway, I had one final autumn post that I wanted to share with you all before I go all Christmas on you (which will begin tomorrow, btw).

 

I love using natural elements in my decor, but sometimes that can get a bit rustic. This garland is made of the tops of acorns, but has a totally modern vibe.

 

 

Here's what you'll need:  Acorn tops, metallic paint (or liquid leaf), paint in a variety of colors, brushes, varnish, string, hot glue and scissors.

 

First of all. I need to confess something. I gather all of my leaves, twigs and acorns at the cemetery. It's also where I typically go running. The cemetery is one of my favorite places in my city.

 

Secondly, this craft is easy.  Start by painting the insides of the acorn tops with your metallic paint and let dry.

 

 

 

Then paint the outsides in your chosen color(s).  I picked a variety in the aqua/turquoise/blue family.

 

 

 

When that's dry, brush on a coat of varnish and let it dry again.

 

 

 

Lastly, attach the string to the stem of the acorns with a dab of hot glue.

 

 

 

I love the vibrant, not typically autumn colors of this garland.
