I love finding little demilune tables and was super lucky last weekend to find two while out at tag sales. I also had found a third earlier this spring at the thrift store that ended up being a custom piece for a customer of mine.
I always find that demilunes are a bit wobbly and in need of reinforcement. But, after a bit of prep work I was able to get started.
The surface of this one was still in fantastic condition so all I did was enhance the wood grain with some Howard's Restor-A Finish.
Here is a before shot of it...it's the one on the left.
The legs seemed to have an old metallic glaze to them, which I thought was so unusual and beautiful so I decided to go with it. I painted it using Folk Art Metallic Paint in Pure Gold. When it was dry I lightly sanded it and waxed the entire piece. It's in my dining room right now and...I'm sort of in love with it so it kind of might not be making it to my Porch Sale that I'm having next weekend.
Isn't it so awesome how you can completely change the look and vibe of furniture with just a little paint. This was the other table I got last weekend and, in the before picture, it's the one in worse condition with the paint splattered top. I wanted to go beachy and saturated with color and used Behr's Deep Sea Blue that I had leftover from this gorgeous Colonial Blue Dresser.
Lastly, here is a before of the demilune table I found at the thrift store.
My customer had previously purchased a nightstand from me that was painted charcoal and wanted this demilune to be a companion piece. Here is a picture of her order before she picked it up. (I also did that chair for her...love that she is not opposed to a bold accent piece!)
And now I'm off. Hopefully to a gigantic field where my boys can run around to exhaustion because they are honestly driving me a little bit crazy lately...
Thank you so much for stopping by!

ReplyDeleteGreat job on all of them! I love how you styled them too. I have painted a few of these tables and I honestly didn't know how people use them since they are so small!
