I have to say, that this may be an all time low for time spent outside in the summer for us. Between torrential rain and incredible heat and humidity it is just not that enjoyable being out there.
So, that has left me with some extra free time chilling out in our living room reading home decorating books. Which, you know totally got me inspired and wanting to change things up a bit. Hence, my newly decorated summer living room! I wanted to go for a light and airy summer look without any clutter.
The couch pillows were nice and light and summery, but those on the chairs had to go into storage. I brought up a chevron Target pillow from last year and then found a Nate Berkus white and gold Greek Key pillow on clearance for just $7.48!
I decorated in mostly aquas and whites.
I am loving our vintage coffee table that I painted in a wheat color. I think it fits the space much better than the black one we previously had. Also, a bonus is that I recently found an accompanying end table which I painted the same warm wheat color.
I added in simple, summer accessories like a bowl of shells.
I recently found this chair at Savers and gave it a summery makeover with custom aqua paint, lots of worn distressing and white, canvas fabric.
I kept the mantel very, very simple. Can you spot my other Nate Berkus find? You have no idea how long I have wanted that turtle shell, but could not justify paying full price, but for $11.98 it was all mine!
And there you have it, my summer space, which I think flows much better with our dining room.
How have you updated for the summer months?

Look fabulous, love the soft aqua colors. So pretty. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteYou know I love everything about your home! It has a wonderful collected over time look!
ReplyDeleteYour living room looks very nice and summery, Angela. Nice job! I haven't lightened up in the decorating but probably need to.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm working on adding lots of rose-covered pillows, etc. to a newly enclosed side porch so that counts.
What I'm not doing is the same as you are not doing----spending much time outdoors. Uh uh Mosquitos and humidity send me running for the air-conditioned living room and that's where I stay. Susan
Everything looks crisp and fresh.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sharon, your home does look like it was collected over time!
ReplyDeleteLooking great! Did I already tell you I have that same pillow (the ikat one from Target) in my sunroom? I've been wanting that turtle shell, too...I'll have to swing by my target and see if they have it; it's still $20something on the website.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely space! Perfect for summer! I popped over from Alderberry Hill--thanks for sharing!
