Chippy, Painted Farm Desk

You guys this long weekend was seriously crazy. We got so much accomplished on our to do lists. My husband focused on the study renovation. The remaining three walls are so close to being painted. And, I focused on painting furniture. I have furniture pickups all day today which will help me to clean out my workspace to get started on lots of new projects.

One piece that is going to its new home is this gorgeous farm desk. Seriously. It was originally from a fruit farm and the current owner hunted it down and brought it to me for custom painting.

For the most part it was structurally in excellent condition, despite its age. My husband made a few repairs and then I got to work painting.

After a sanding and very deep cleaning, I painted the dresser in a gorgeous cream color. (Yipes! Ignore the overgrown flower bed back there. We seriously need to get on that!)

The customer wanted a very chippy and distressed look, so after the paint dried I thoroughly sanded it to give it an aged look.  You can see both the natural wood and some bits of the original paint peeking through.

Aren't the legs super cool! It's like business and storage on one side and prettiness on the other. Loving how the openness lightens up the entire piece and prevents it from looking too clunky.

Lastly, here is a detailed picture of the drawers with their original hardware. Love this desk and it was so much fun to transform!
