Updated Antique Farmhouse Table

First of all, I completely promise more posts about the renovations in our home very soon. Maybe even by next week. Things are just in that phase where one room is at the disaster stage and the other one is close to done, but not quite there. Because of this, I have been busying myself with hunting down and painting furniture.

This is a small farmhouse table I recently found on my travels and updated. I love how it turned out and it sold to a new customer of mine almost immediately.

When I bought the table it was structurally great, but was in need of a deep cleaning and new paint. The top was metal; which is inherently cool, but it was not original to the table and actually was not even the correct size.

I painted the legs and base of the table using General Finishes Antique White Milk Paint. The top and drawer got a coat of GF's Millstone. This paint did not disappoint even on this previously painted surface. It went on smooth, adhered wonderfully and gave great coverage.

Since the table has a rustic feel, I did lots of distressing which added to its wonderful character.

Whenever I redo a piece of furniture to sell I try to imagine the possible used for it. The first things that came to mind with this little table is kitchen island/cart or potting bench. I wanted to give a little height to the table and make it easy to move around so I added on vintage casters from my stash. Love.

Lastly, I added this super sweet Apple Blossom Clear Glass Knob from D. Lawless Hardware. I think it was the perfect final touch!

  1. Nice job. I love the colors you chose and the knob, as well. I could use a table like this... :-)
