New Coffee Table & Summer Styling

*I was compensated for this post with supplies, however all content, thoughts and opinions are my own.
If you follow me on Facebook then you've already heard about the massive tragedy that occurred here last week at Number Fifty-Three.

My youngest, in a week filled with extreme impulsiveness (thanks to a too large increase in a medication he takes for his anxiety/autism issues) thought it would be a fun prank to lightly push his brother when he walked by. His brother, who is super strong and equally dramatic fell backwards destroying our coffee table and the last shred of patience I had.

A couple of positives. The oldest was not hurt. The prankster felt remorse. Figaro was not sleeping under the table when it broke (it's his go to nap spot).

Another plus, I found a new table the very next day on Craigslist (albeit, shorter, longer and with a double pedestal base, but same look and feel). Although, to be honest, I love the broken one more. Sigh. (BTW, if you want to compare this new coffee table to the old one you can read all about it here.)

Anyway, I decided to straight up recreate the finish from the previous coffee table on the new coffee table. I sanded, primed (curse you mahogany and your dreaded bleed through) and painted it with General Finishes Antique White. It's pretty much the most perfect off white (not too stark, not too yellow) ever created and I've used it all over our home.

New coffee table calls for new styling, am I right?

Zero money spent on the styling as I just pulled things in from around my home. I decide to use more turquoise to balance all that I added in the adjoining dining room.

The night that the table broke I felt so bad for Figgy. He was sniffing all over the living room looking for the old coffee table and raising his little paw up trying to figure out what had happened. It's all good now. He seems to have accepted the new table legs and his resting spot just fine!
