A Little Landscaping Update

The outside of my house has been a disaster since I bought it. Horribly overgrown landscaping, and in some places, no landscaping at all. 

The entire house needs to be painted. Some spots on the porch show signs of rot. 

There’s too much grass to maintain, so this year I decided to not mow the side yard and let it grow to a meadow. 

I set the goal of filling our yard waste bucket every week, which is extremely easy to do given the amount of work needed to clean things up. I filled one just cleaning up the patio area! (Anyone remember a couple years ago when I painted the garage black and found this awesome table and chairs for free on Facebook marketplace? —All it needed was a fresh coat of paint!)

Vintage Turkish Runner DIY

Hi everyone!

 I did a project this weekend that I have been wanting to do for a long time--like probably years, and that is to install a series of Turkish runners on my stairs.

My stairway in tight and narrow and has no pizazz at all and this project has changed all that and makes me so, so happy.  I've been pinning ideas like this for years and I am so thrilled with the results. (You can check out my inspiration board here.)

Rustic, Antique Thrift Store Chair

I always have the intentions of getting better with my blog. When I blogged regularly it was literally the happiest time of my life.  I felt such fulfillment and loved recording a history of my projects and decor. 

Life got muddled and, if you follow me on social media, you know that this year I was diagnosed with cancer. I don’t want this to be a cancer blog, because home decor is my haven, but it is a big part of my life now. 

Last week, in between chemo infusions, I felt well enough to work on a project for the first time since January. It was heaven. I sanded this antique chair (along with the legs of some non antique chairs in my living room that I’ll share at a later date).

Happy New Year friends! Can you believe it’s 2020? I just wanted to share my cozy January home tour with you all. I have to say, this was the first year ever that I was really sad to take down my Christmas tree. I loved it so much and really miss the glow of the lights.

Master Bedroom Update

If there is one piece of advice that I can give, it's don't wait years to update your bedroom when you move into a new house.

I've owned this home for nearly four years now, and I just tackled my bedroom last month.

Part of the delay was that this was not the room I intended to have long term and secondly, I felt zero inspiration. In hindsight, a fresh coat of paint and some new bedding would have done wonders, both for my mood and creativity.

Hello everyone! I wanted to share this gorgeous picture I was recently gifted from MyPix2.com.

The backstory to this picture is that I actually took it a few Halloweens ago at the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in New York.  I loved this old door both as architectural element, but also for its deep, moody turquoise color.

Simple & Inexpensive Boho Christmas Tree

After I shared my Holiday Housewalk tour last week I was doing some cleaning and moved my couch back in front of the double window, which is typically where I have it, but had switched it over the summer for a change.

I had mentioned this on social media and brought up that I was contemplating bringing up by big tree and I got so many sweet comments and direct messages that I decided to go for it!

In all actuality, I had been wanting the tree up in time for the tour, but just wasn't feeling the inspiration just yet.
