Glam Skull Place Cards

I have to say that in past years, I never was one to decorate much for Halloween.

I've tried to embrace it this year, though, for a couple of reasons.

One being that my oldest has had such a miserable month being sick that I knew he would love the additions (his favorite holiday is Halloween and he loves sciency things like skulls).

Non-Traditonal Backsplashes

I am a chronic project flip flopper. I will start a project, make progress and then, before I finish, I move on to something else.  Perhaps a bit of ADD involved, but I'm mostly going to go with the fact that I really do need to let a project or room evolve. You know all those great boards that decorators put together to plan out a room design? Well, I. Totally. Cannot. Do. That. I've tried, but I end up hating the results in the end.  The collected look is more than just a style that I like, it actually how my brain works to put a project together.

So recently, I decided to add a bit of a defined backsplash to our kitchen.  I've been making changes to the room slowly, over the last year, but now I'm to the real nitty gritty part of the makeover; backsplash and cabinet painting.

Chalkboard and Twig Antler Art

I've pretty much been obsessed with antlers for a while now.  I mean they are absolutely everywhere and they add such an unexpected and natural touch to a room.

I think I could do regular antlers (they just fall off, right?), but not taxidermy. That is way, way out of my comfort zone.

How about antlers made from twigs? That is right up my alley since I have sticks/twigs or some other bit of nature in every room.

Subtle & Thrifty October Mantel

I've been slowly working my way around the main living areas in our home adding in fall touches.  I'm much more of an autumn decorator than a Halloween one.  I love dried corn, twigs, pumpkins and all those little things that you associate with the season.  However, I did want to add a subtle touch of Halloween to my mantel this year.
