I sort of feel that way about thrift store shopping. But, instead of a bad location (like a house) something at the thrift store might be total trash or completely unusable. (Tell me I'm not the only one who wonders how some of that stuff has even made it onto the shelves). Other items might just need that easy cosmetic change.

Book Page Chistmas Wreath

We usually put our big Christmas tree in our dining room each year. It's probably atypical, but it seems to work out best for us and for the layout of our home.

 

Anyway, about a month or so ago I found this vintage bamboo ladder at a tag sale not too far from us. I was super excited because I had actually wanted an antique ladder for next to the sideboard in our dining room. This one, though, more than fit the bill.  It was the right size and color, the bamboo gave it a cool, modern edge and, get this, it only cost $5. Five dollars!

 

Gold Star Tree & My Christmas Coffee Table

I sort of give up. It's freezing and snowy here so I've let the Christmas decorations begin to seep in before Thanksgiving has even happened. This is completely unlike me, but I am totally placing the blame on the wintry weather, the late Thanksgiving and not feeling well/hanging out too much at home thinking about decorating (cannot wait to call the doctor tomorrow to get my ears checked.)

Book Page Tribal Arrow Garland

Is it cold where you live? It has been freezing here the last couple of days. To me, that is the perfect weather to be cozy inside and create something pretty.

 

And, it's definitely no secret that I love book page crafts and making garlands. I also love the tribal trend in home décor.  (Remember my dream catcher I made here?) So, I decided to make this easy book page tribal arrow garland. Seriously simple!

Remember right before Halloween when I took my oldest to the pumpkin patch and the owner gave us an empty bag to fill with gourds since it was their last weekend open?

 

 

Well, I finally got around to making the project I had wanted to do all along.

Yesterday was the most gorgeous fall day here in Massachusetts, so my Mom and I decided to take my oldest to the pumpkin patch with us to have a look around and get some pumpkins for carving. (My youngest is now sick and had to stay home...this month has been insane with illness here!)

 

Anyway, we got our pumpkins and a whole passel of awesome gourds. My son was in awe over how cool they were with their unique colors, shapes and markings.

Glam Skull Place Cards

I have to say that in past years, I never was one to decorate much for Halloween.

 

 

I've tried to embrace it this year, though, for a couple of reasons.

 

One being that my oldest has had such a miserable month being sick that I knew he would love the additions (his favorite holiday is Halloween and he loves sciency things like skulls).

Easy, DIY, Dream Catcher



Morning everyone! With Antonio being sick with pneumonia, this week has sort of just slipped away from me. We haven't been anywhere, I haven't worked on any significant project or accomplished much of anything. But, I have spent my time tweaking my fall décor and working on simple crafts like this easy, DIY dream catcher.

Autumn Hutch with a Painted Gourd

So, some changes are taking place in my entry area (including some new furniture), which caused my black hutch to be displaced. It spent the better part of last week in my office (or what my lovingly Mom refers to as the dumping ground - and I totally need some sort of plan for that room because she is right and it needs to stop).

 

 

After dragging the hutch around my home, I finally settled on this wall in my living room. I've loved having a little end table here, but the wall was calling for something additional.

 



Ballard Inspired Pin Board

I just got back from dropping my oldest, Antonio, off at a steam punk inspired art workshop for the day. I. Am. So. Jealous. They are supposed to be making robots using found materials. My youngest, Gennaro didn't want him to go away for the entire day so he kept telling Antonio that he will be making a robot out of an old, used juice box, which, of course infuriated him. I think this day apart will do them good! Ha Ha!

Anyway, here is a crafty little project I whipped up yesterday using an old bulletin board I picked up at a tag sale.

Hi all! I completely feel like I dropped off the face of the earth for a few days! I had intended on taking a little break of sorts because my husband was on vacation, but then I caught a horrible cold and spent a couple of days miserable and sneezing. Hate that! Especially when it's like 100 degrees outside!

 

Anyway, since I was confined to the couch and watching Dragnet on Hulu (love that show) I decided to make a wreath.

Simple Book Page Wreath

This wreath took such a short amount of time to make! Usually wreathes take me forever and are way more intricate with punched borders and fancy things like that. Even Martino was shocked when I finished, but I had been planning on doing a simple and basic wreath for our bedroom (since there are quite a few patterns and colors going on in there already) for a while now.
