Happy Monday everyone! We have had a whirlwind of a few days around here filled with IKEA shopping in Connecticut, museum visiting at Harvard, furniture hunting at thrift stores and more.
In between all of the craziness I painted this cute desk and chair. It seriously makes me smile.
I pulled out my tried-and-true favorite paint for this makeover. The desk received a couple of coats of General Finishes Patina Green. I have used this color several times and it is always super popular with my customers (and me, too).
To add in a bit more interest I highlighted the cubby dividers and the grooves on the leg with a little bit of gold craft paint. I love how subtle it is, but still gives the desk a special touch.
Here's the desk when I first brought it home...that flowery ceramic knob Had. To. Go.
I replaced it with this simple and pretty diamond cut acrylic knob from D. Lawless. So much better!
On to the chair...here is the before; sturdy, but not so pretty...
I wanted it to compliment, but not match the desk so I painted it Antique White by General Finishes. I ended up distressing it a bit more than the desk...
I'm super into green/aqua paired with navy lately so I reupholstered the seat in this fun fabric I found on our trip to IKEA.
And, lest you think Figgy left me alone to photograph. He, in fact, did not. A whole lot of this was going on....
And, by the way, thank you for all the comments last week when he wasn't feeling well. We were so close to bringing him to the vet for antibiotics and IV fluids, but he improved on his own and is back to his old self. Phew!
