So, last week I shared our decision to stay put in our home and renovate. Thank you so, so much for all of your comments on that subject. I guess we aren't the only ones who were stuck in indecision!
Anyway, I also mentioned that our one and only bathroom would be the first reno in this home update. I have hired a contractor and work should begin in about two weeks. I've also started purchasing supplies.
Over the weekend I headed down to IKEA and picked up the vanity and faucet. I wanted clean, straight lines and a vintage feel. I tweaked my purchase a tad from my original idea after seeing that this counter top had the built in backsplash. I think it will be way more practical to protect our walls (plus my husband says I am some sort of crazy face washer, so apparently I splash).
I paired the vanity and sink with this lovely faucet (really, I am in love).
I also purchased our new light and it should arrive shortly...It is not the original one that I had intended because of time constraints (but this is my 2nd choice and my husband's 1st choice so it's all good).
Last up (for this round of purchasing is the tile). Both Home Depot and The Tile Shop have what I want. I'm contemplating just going with Home Depot since I can get it immediately and see it in person first. Thoughts either way? I plan on doing this for the floor...
...and this for the shower (it is white, although doesn't look like it in the picture)...
Continuing on with the tile discussion. What do you all think about colored grout? I really, really want gray grout on both the shower wall and floor...something like this or more pale (which is why I think I need to see this all in person)...
Alright, so please share your comments, ideas and suggestions. Next week I'll be picking paint colors, a mirror and all those little details.
great choices- i love the light and tile!
ReplyDeleteI am thinking of painting my cabinets in the bathroom. Thanks for this little photo. xo,Susie
ReplyDeleteThat tile is going to look amazing. The grout looks more brown than gray, but that could be my monitor. I think gray grout will look good.
ReplyDeleteLove gray grout and when the room is all put together it will look fantastic!
ReplyDeleteexciting! we picked what was supposed to be dark gray grout for our master bath tile, and it wound up a lot lighter than I expected. I don't know if this is a common experience or not, but I'd go for something that looked darker than what I thought I wanted if I had it to do over again. My primary objective was to avoid having to clean white grout at all costs :)
ReplyDeleteGreat picks! I love the backsplash of the sink- it makes it so much more traditional. And I vote gray grout- just dont go white please. We had white grout in our house when we moved in and it's so old its just gross even though the tiles are in fine shape. So excited to see this bathroom!
ReplyDeleteLove everything Angela and cant wait to see this finished.

Those tiles are my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI do love everything too!
ReplyDeleteSome may say renovation is an overwhelming job. But in my opinion, it’s more of exciting, especially since you can do it on your one and only bathroom. Plus, you don’t have to worry about anything, because you hired someone to help you through the process. Good luck!

Thanks, David! We are pretty excited...especially since most of the materials have already arrived. It is definitely becoming more real!
