Ballard Inspired Pin Board

Happy Monday, friends!

I just got back from dropping my oldest, Antonio, off at a steam punk inspired art workshop for the day. I. Am. So. Jealous. They are supposed to be making robots using found materials. My youngest, Gennaro didn't want him to go away for the entire day so he kept telling Antonio that he will be making a robot out of an old, used juice box, which, of course infuriated him. I think this day apart will do them good! Ha Ha!

Anyway, here is a crafty little project I whipped up yesterday using an old bulletin board I picked up at a tag sale.

I simply (or not so simply given the ridiculously large nails that had been used to secure it) removed the board from the frame.

I then covered it in burlap using the same basic principles for upholstery (pulling the fabric tight and stapling into place).

The corners where gathered, extra fabric removed and stapled.

I then used a ruler to measure equal spaces around the perimeter and hammered in upholstery tacks to give it a more finished look. My husband walked into the room and was actually quite pleased to see I had the ruler out and was actually measuring as my math skills are sketchy at best and I usually just like to wing it!

Love the finished product!

And, not so dissimilar to the Ballard message board, but for a fraction of the cost!

 Have a great day!
