Simple, Rustic Potting Bench

This is a Sponsored Post

I almost hate to share this, because someone obviously worked on this piece before me. But, I pretty much share every project I do, and I thought this one should be no exception.

I just want to state for the record that less is more. Always.

Darrell scoped this table out at an antique store over the weekend and thought I could give it a makeover/under, however you want to look at it.

Here's what I love, love, love about it...it's obviously a handmade table; rustic with all kinds of imperfections. I love thinking about who made it, and why and all the places it may have been used.

Obviously, if you've followed Number Fifty-Three for any length of time than you know what I didn't like about it was it's color and finish.

I started by sanding the entire piece pretty thoroughly because in addition to the red and pink paints there were newspaper clippings decoupaged to the entire piece.

I then painted it in a custom mixed deep navy, using General Finishes Coastal Blue, Corinth Blue and Emerald Green. The best part about using GF paint for this project is that it is UV resistant so it will withstand fading on a covered porch or patio.

I distressed the top to show some of the character and added in this gorgeous ceramic knob from D. Lawless Hardware.

This piece is so much calmer and sophisticated now. And navy just really has my heart at the moment.
