Updated Dining Room Tour

I'm the queen of letting one project cascade into an entire house makeover.  It just sort of happens sometimes when you update one small thing.

Like last summer when I redid our dining room. After I had gotten a substantial amount of the house painted, we realized the color was just not for us. So, of course, my repainting of the main areas in our home with Benjamin Moore's Cloud Cover spilled over into the dining room.  And I've been sharing one post after the next showing little tidbits of the makeover, but realized I never actually shared the room all put together. It's about time I did, don't you think?

Here's the view into our newly painted dining room from the living room:

I replaced the patterned curtains with plain white curtains from West Elm, which flow better with our living room.

I shared the ever evolving story of our hutch here.

It now has a more rustic feel and is filled with (mostly) antique books and white pottery.

We kept the super unusual (and free) craigslist optometrist window that we scored last summer and I added in this fun book page wreath with decorative edges.  (You can read about the wreath here.)

I added in a fiddle leaf tree from the Home Depot (my husband has been wanting one for over a year now) and an antique store chair replaced my blue, velvet wing chair which found a new home in the master bedroom.

I love mixing old and new and I think this Target pillow compliments my old chair nicely.

I kept the secretary (here) that I had updated last summer along with the plate gallery wall. I sold the original bench I had made over on craigslist. It was replaced with this free chair Martino found last summer that I then repainted and used the chandelier stencil on (here).

And finally, when I had to take down the book page wall to paint the room we replaced it with this $15 planked wall.  Definitely my favorite project to date. You can read about the transformation here.

So, am I done with this room? For now...you know I'm never totally done with anything! Things I'm considering are interesting chairs for the dining table, a vintage chandelier and perhaps a really old and worn oriental rug for the floor.  And that hutch. I know I have to work around it.  Sometimes I look at it and feel content...other times, not so much. So we'll see where that eventually will lead me.  Overall, though I am thrilled with the outcome of this room. It definitely has been a space that has evolved over time and I've learned a lot while I was updating it.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
