Book Page Chistmas Wreath

We usually put our big Christmas tree in our dining room each year. It's probably atypical, but it seems to work out best for us and for the layout of our home.

Anyway, about a month or so ago I found this vintage bamboo ladder at a tag sale not too far from us. I was super excited because I had actually wanted an antique ladder for next to the sideboard in our dining room. This one, though, more than fit the bill.  It was the right size and color, the bamboo gave it a cool, modern edge and, get this, it only cost $5. Five dollars!

Book Page Tribal Arrow Garland

Is it cold where you live? It has been freezing here the last couple of days. To me, that is the perfect weather to be cozy inside and create something pretty.

And, it's definitely no secret that I love book page crafts and making garlands. I also love the tribal trend in home décor.  (Remember my dream catcher I made here?) So, I decided to make this easy book page tribal arrow garland. Seriously simple!

Entry Tour: Styling with Antique Books

If you recall there is no real separation between our entry and our living room. Kind of unusual for an older home, plus our neighbor's house was built by the same person at the same time and they do, in fact, have a separate, walled off entry space.

Simple Book Page Wreath

This wreath took such a short amount of time to make! Usually wreathes take me forever and are way more intricate with punched borders and fancy things like that. Even Martino was shocked when I finished, but I had been planning on doing a simple and basic wreath for our bedroom (since there are quite a few patterns and colors going on in there already) for a while now.

Book Page Wreath & Dining Room Ideas

I was hinting around at wanting to add in a planked accent wall instead of the book page wall in our dining room here.  While I did love the book page wall, I knew it wouldn't be permanent and since we had commited to changing the paint colors in our home to lighter and brighter this year, the pages needed to come down.

As a nod to our old accent wall (seen here) I decided to hang up this book page wreath I had made several months ago, but had never shared with all of you because of the busy holiday season and a focus on other projects.

Valentine Entry & Tutorial

I decided to add a little Valentine love to my entryway this week to brighten my spirits.

The last few days have been pretty darn mediocre. 1) because Figgy has been sick and had to be brought to the vet and  2) dealing with frustrating issues with getting the services that my boys need.  The latter is not something that is comfortable or fun to talk about, but the reality is that my boys have special needs.  When your children have autism there are a lot of other issues, like anxiety and OCD, that sometimes go along with it. Things that require medication to function. All their doctors and therapists agree, but there are just not enough clinicians out there to prescribe. I cannot even begin to describe my frustration over this!

Anyway, on to happier things, like delicate, book page angel wings.

Favorite Things {January Mantel}

Every year, once all the Christmas decorations come down, I tend to scale back on my décor.  I think it's the overabundance of Christmas that just makes me want to streamline for the new year.

Carving out a Library

We don't have one of those long, narrow traditional type of hallways.  Ours is shaped more like a square, located at the top of our stairs on the second floor of our home.

It's almost like a little room; having more than ample space for furniture and accessories.

My Autumn Coffee Table Styling

It's such a typical fall day in Massachusetts; chilly, breezy, and a little gloomy, so I thought I would take advantage of being inside and update my coffee table for autumn.

Dramatic Dining Room Hutch Transformation

I've been working on my dining room for a couple of months now and I'm finally seeing it all come together.  My plans for the room changed from my original thoughts that I wrote about here, but I am so in love with the space and all the elements that have been included.

One reason that things didn't go as planned was because we couldn't sell our large hutch.  We called every consignment store, estate buyer and listed it on craigslist, but there was just no interest.

My husband originally wanted to use just the bottom piece in the room and store the large upper portion in the garage.

I lived with it like this for awhile, but the scale of the furniture was all wrong in the room and it killed me to have the top of the hutch rotting away in our old garage.  Eventually, I convinced my husband to let me paint the piece and remove the doors for open shelving and I am so happy he agreed because this is what I came up with.

{Frugal Fall} Entry & Tutorial

I really am a fan of autumn.  I've tucked in twigs, pumpkins and dried corn all around our home and our entryway is no exception.
