Updating Furniture w/ Pottery Barn White

Hi everyone! I'm still continuing on my quest to make a good dent in my custom projects so that I can devote a good chunk of time to my kitchen next week. I cannot wait! My husband, probably like most, isn't super into decorating and all that, (he is always busy at work and has his own interests), so I actually had to tell him the other day that if he wants to see what is going to happen in our kitchen he had better read my blog post!

Anyway, you completely cannot walk into my entry right now since it is jam packed with furniture that is waiting to be picked up by my customers. Two of those pieces, which I finished last week, I have just been dying to share with you all.  My customer bought a few pieces from me, one is an end table I found at the thrift store and another is an old console table that I got off of craigslist especially for her.
She wanted both pieces done is a Pottery Barn white, with minimal distressing. I love how these pieces came out! So classic!!!

I started out by sanding both pieces.  The end table was totally straight forward, but, oh my gosh that console! It had a crackle finish. I have never seen such a mess while sanding something ever! I was totally consumed in a cloud of dust more than I ever could have imagined.  And just a little note, do not attempt to sand such a thing while you hair is still damp from a shower...the texture of my hair after I got done sanding was...alarming...(Here's the before.)
Once I got everything sanded, cleaned, primed the makeover was actually quite simple.  I did some research and determined that my best bet for recreating the white color on PB furniture was to use Benjamin Moore's Mascarpone.  It's a gorgeous, not quite pure white, but yet not cream color.  I did several coats and just lightly distressed the edges with a sanding sponge before waxing.
Off to finish more projects, do errands and homeschool my boys...another super busy day! Enjoy yours!
