Painted Retro Vanity

Happy Sunday! I have a crazy, busy day ahead of me. I think I have six or seven customers coming to pick up their furniture. (You can imagine what my entry looks like right now!) But, I was pretty excited to have gotten all the pickups arranged for the same day.

In between all of that chaos I am hoping to, at least start, a couple of other paint projects (I have a cool vintage coffee table and an old dorm room desk on tap). Also, I would like to start to prime the upper kitchen cabinets.

Anyway, the other weekend, a good friend of mine came over for a visit and, after an awesome lunch out, we went to thrift stores, tag sales and estate sales. My kind of Saturday!

One thing I found was this old, vintage, vanity table. I had done a very distressed, shabby one a few weeks ago and wanted to go with a more retro feel for this time around.

This was a very simple makeover. The table got painted in a vanilla bean color--not sure the exact name, but it was a sample pot I found at Lowes and the drawer got a coat of Behr's Peacock Feather (a fave color of mine.)  I then distressed it all lightly and replaced the knob with another from D. Lawless, here, (you can see the other project I used the same knob on here.) Love how versatile this hardware is!

Really loving the retro feel of this piece. I think it looks pretty great in my living room, but it wasn't meant to be. It sold the same day I listed it.

Enjoy your day!

  7. I make over these little vanities a lot, but never have I gone outside the lines. Love the retro look and how it no longer looks like a vanity. The pop of peacock is perfect for it. YAY! I will no longer make skirts for them!

  8. This turned out beautiful. I have a similar table that I painted white many years ago. It could use another update. I love how you gave yours a pop of color and added more personality with coordinating art and accessories
