Oh how I love the combination of charcoal gray with brass! Don't you just love the classic lines of this dresser and how the darker paint gives it such a modern feel?
I found this dresser the same day that I bought the Vintage Gold Dresser (and, if you follow me on Facebook then you know I couldn't live with the yellow color and ended up repainting it this very same gray. Don't judge, I am fully aware of my obsessiveness.)
But, back to this dresser. So, I bought it with the intention of putting it in my now just turned 12 year old son's room. My first mistake was asking his opinion. He got into this whole, "I love your style, it's just not for me" speech. I ended up painting it as I had envisioned then selling it immediately after listing it. Totally his loss. (Not actually, though because he ended up taking a beautiful armoire that we had elsewhere in our home and now he has this whole dorm room/office/playroom/Narnia thing with a touch of science going on up there is his space and we're all happy.)
This was, in part, such a fun makeover to do, because I was able to use a new color by General Finishes Paint Company called Queenstown Gray. You knows when every once in a while you find an absolutely perfect paint color? That is how I feel about this one. It is a gorgeous deep, deep gray that has a bit of a blue undertone. Just right for this antique dresser!
Here is a before shot:
Did you notice that I was missing some hardware? I ended up mixing and matching the drawer pulls with some complimentary pieces I had on hand. I am kind of really into mixing hardware lately and have actually been seeing it pop up on more and more pieces.
Thank you so much for stopping by!
