Master Bedroom Update

If there is one piece of advice that I can give, it's don't wait years to update your bedroom when you move into a new house.

I've owned this home for nearly four years now, and I just tackled my bedroom last month.

Part of the delay was that this was not the room I intended to have long term and secondly, I felt zero inspiration. In hindsight, a fresh coat of paint and some new bedding would have done wonders, both for my mood and creativity.

Eventually, I painted my walls and trim the same whites as I have throughout my home and did an accent wall using a custom mix of black paint that I had leftover from furniture projects.

The curtains are from IKEA and I also have them in my living and dining rooms.

I did purchase this Novogratz gold bed and some new bedding (comforter, rug pillow), throw is from HomeGoods.

Does anyone remember several years ago when I took a china cabinet and replaced the glass with a mirror? You can read about it here. I still adore it!

I would like to add to this painting (found at a thrift store for a few dollars and then paired with a $5 Brimfield find) and create a gallery wall that wraps around to the fourth wall in the room (the one I haven't shown). It's done and practical because of old house living, but I definitely don't love it. Anyway, when I shared this picture on Instagram a while back, it was an overwhelming yes to the gallery wall. I love the idea and do have some additional artwork, but would definitely need more.

Also, I just wanted to share these real estate photos from when I bought the house. It's nice to see how far you've come sometimes.

I'm really pleased with how this space turned out. It's cozy and I actually enjoy spending time in here now! (It's also prime bird/traffic viewing;) )
