Rustic, Autumn Home Tour

There's no question that I get my obsessive decorating gene from my Mother.

She is constantly changing, tweaking and rearranging her home (which she loves) and I am often the lucky recipient of her cast-offs (which I love).

We decorate with a lot of the same things; natural elements like gourds and twigs and thrifted finds like brass, silver and pewter.

I find it so interesting to see how she puts it all together because her decor is decidedly rustic and primitive, while mine is more modern country and vintage.

Here are some pictures I captured recently of her rustic, autumn home. Enjoy!

A gourd and nut garland by a local shop owner.

Faux apples in an old bucket.  This was the bucket that inspired one of my first blog post.  You can find it here.

Thrifted brass candlesticks with the most adorable little orange candles.

Fabric pumpkins and some of the my bittersweet.

The most awesome collection of dried gourds.

Faux Chinese lanterns in an old box. Don't you love the color combo?

More bittersweet. I love it up against the black shelf and with the primitive candles.

A mix of dried corn in an old wooden bowl. The textures are wonderful!

Her gorgeous mum in a basket I found at an estate sale.

Pussy willows and grocery store pumpkins on a stick (Hmmmm. I have both of those in my dining room, too.  You can see them here.)  Notice her gorgeous antique rocker!

A primitive Halloween witch and my Mom's winter bedding.

An old chair and another bucket filled with dried gourds and faux fruit brighten up a tiny space.

Can you tell that we both love bittersweet?  I love the old box and the vibrancy of the berries.  Be sure to check out how I used the vine on my mantel seen here.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  And be sure to check out my paint project on October 17th.  I cannot wait to share it with you all!

I love all your little decorations, the way you use bowl and baskets to layer, I just love that look of texture and layers combined. I got my decorating, tweaking, hoarding gene from my mother too! Sometimes an overdose of it though ;)

  2. I like your style and your Mom's. I like way too many styles and refuse to be just one. So I have American Country, primitive country, a litte French Country and English Country, a little retro, and cabin. But not in the same room.
