Vintage Modern Painted Hutch {& AT Feature)

Hey everyone!

I have a couple of exciting things to share. On Friday, Apartment Therapy featured one of my Painted & Stained Mid Century End Tables! Super cool to be featured there again since I am a faithful reader of AT.

Secondly, I'd like to introduce you all to my new mid century hutch. We're all pretty much in love. Like, all four of us. Kids included.

Rustic Modern Flag Tutorial

Hey there friends!

This month has completely flown by for us and I can't believe Memorial Day is quickly approaching.

For the last several years (because of road construction in our city) we had been lucky enough to have the annual parade go right down our street. (This year they are back to their old route and will just pass by our road). The parade, coupled with the fact that we can see the fireworks on the 4th right from our backyard and that we have a huge military presence in our city, naturally makes our neighborhood pretty patriotic and I always love adding in a nod to our country both inside and out.

Bathroom Reno Plans {Part Two}

When we first met our contractor for the bathroom to discuss what I wanted done I was super specific. I seriously handed him a two page report complete with pictures of what I wanted.

So...even though this renovation is way far out of our DIY skills and we had to hire out, I'm still having major involvement. Part of that will be to paint the bathroom (once everything is prepped) because I just could not justify paying someone to paint. The other part is that I am sourcing and purchasing the key elements of the room. It has been a mix of super fun and super stressful. I'm not going lie...what if I purchased wrong or measured wrong and it doesn't work? I hate when anxious thoughts creep into my head!

I feel like I have a natural draw towards mid century furniture.

First of all, it is a perfect fit for my home, period wise. Secondly, I love the clean lines. And, since I despise clutter or things that are too ornate I frequently am drawn to this style. Lastly, this stuff is well built. It's insane how heavy, even these tables, were to carry.

Bathroom Reno Plans & Ideas...

So, last week I shared our decision to stay put in our home and renovate. Thank you so, so much for all of your comments on that subject. I guess we aren't the only ones who were stuck in indecision!

Anyway, I also mentioned that our one and only bathroom would be the first reno in this home update.  I have hired a contractor and work should begin in about two weeks. I've also started purchasing supplies.

Over the weekend I headed down to IKEA and picked up the vanity and faucet. I wanted clean, straight lines and a vintage feel.  I tweaked my purchase a tad from my original idea after seeing that this counter top had the built in backsplash. I think it will be way more practical to protect our walls (plus my husband says I am some sort of crazy face washer, so apparently I splash).

Spring Home Updates & Changes

Morning! I thought I would give you a peak inside our home to see what I've been painting/updating/thrifting/changing/decorating.

First up, I had to share this picture of the front of our home. Our very favorite time of the year is when this tree is in bloom!

{Glazing Furniture} Primitive Country Style Dresser

*I was compensated for this post with supplies, however all content, thoughts and opinions are my own.

I don't know why I'm drawn to furniture sometimes. Even when a piece may look exceptionally bad I will still drag it home (all the while getting strange looks from the thrift store employees). A couple of people that work at my favorite store completely know that I paint and sell furniture. Those that don't most likely think that I have a crazy hoard of bizarre and mismatched things in my home (and I know this to be true, because those couple of employees that know what I do straight up asked me why I am always buying so much furniture).

Antique Black Dresser

I completely have a thing for these antique dressers. I love their tall and thin shape; perfect to squeeze into a tiny space for extra storage.

Should You Sell or Renovate Your Home? {Our Decision}

This has been the topic of discussion more times than I can count in our home.  Have you had it, too? The whole idea of staying in one home and truly investing in it and making it our own versus starting new elsewhere can be seriously stressful to decided. And, I feel like we've lived in limbo for years wondering what to do.

Updated Demilune & Contributor Post

*I was compensated for this post with supplies, however all content, thoughts and opinions are my own.

Morning friends!

I spent the majority of Sunday picking and hunting with my mom and aunt all around Western and Central Massachusetts. We had a fantastic time and all came home with treasures (I also found a couple of furniture pieces to paint and sell.) *Also, we saw Brimfield getting all set up! Super tempted to go this time as it's not super far from where I live.

Traditional Secretary Desk

*I was compensated for this post with supplies, however all content, thoughts and opinions are my own.

Hey everyone!

I am so excited to share this project that I just recently finished up with you all.

A few weeks ago, right before Easter, I saw a gorgeous secretary desk listed on Craigslist and I jumped on it. Seriously. I virtually never find furniture on their anymore.

Simple, Rustic Potting Bench

Happy May!

I am wishing for a springy month as it has still been pretty cold here in the northeast! In fact, our heat has kept turning on over the last few days.

While it was still a bit chilly (but at least not pouring) earlier this week, I took the time to strip the top of this fun table.
